An intervention by the OIPA’s Animal Protection Officers in Brescia, in collaboration with the ATS, has led to the rescue of over 130 birds held in conditions of severe hygienic and sanitary degradation. The operation took place in Brescia, where the animals, including 31 roosters and hens, were found crammed into two dog kennels, surrounded by feces and unsuitable food waste. Approximately 40 wild pigeons and 61 domestic doves were also rescued from similar facilities, revealing a troubling picture of mistreatment.

The owner of the birds has been fined, and the officers are currently seeking suitable shelters for the rescued animals. While all the hens have already found new homes, some roosters and the doves are still awaiting adoption. Local authorities urge the public to report cases of mistreatment to ensure the well-being of animals in the province.
