Arco Christmas Market: Festivities, Local Cuisine & Winter Events

Calling it, this year, the “Christmas Market” is almost an understatement. It doesn’t fully do justice to the initiative that l’Assocentro, in collaboration with the Manifestazioni Rivane committee, first conceived and then set up, which will officially open its doors on Saturday morning at eleven o’clock.

Those who decide to visit Arco in the coming weeks will be able to savor a rich array of appointments and offerings. Starting with the ice skating rink, the children’s theater at Palazzo Giuliani, the Christmas train through the streets of the historic center, the “winter garden”, the stalls, local traditional cuisine products, and much more.

For almost a month, by visiting the Advent Market of Arco, visitors will have the opportunity to buy Christmas gifts and decorations, taste some gastronomic delights, and sample traditional flavors of a cuisine that has almost been lost over time. There are about twenty stands between the Segantini square and the main streets of Arco.

The charming little houses will open to the public from Saturday morning. The train will start to “puff” and the celebration will come alive. On Sunday, at 2:30 PM, the Trentino Schützen companies will enliven the celebration of the Advent Crown, while at 5 PM, inside Palazzo Giuliani in Piazza 3 Novembre, the children’s theater will present its Winter Tales.

And this continues until Christmas. “But that’s not all,” comments Matteo Tamanini, president of Assocentro (the association of merchants of Arco’s historic center). “There’s also the ‘Winter Garden’ (with the arrangement, in various squares of the center, of a series of flowerbeds filled with evergreens and the arboreal embellishment of the main streets) and the ‘Typischer Hof’, where you can enjoy dishes from Trentino and Tyrolean tradition (such as orzetto, bro brusà, gulasch soup, carne salada, and fasoi).

What’s new this year is the advice corner, where a chef (from Cà Rossa in Torbole) will offer tips on how to prepare Christmas dishes in the best way. Additionally, along Via Vergolano and Via Segantini, we have decided to set up a kind of continuous broadcast system, permanently installing everything needed to spread Christmas sounds there as well.

We’ve worked hard, and I believe I can say successfully, as demonstrated by the overwhelming success of our ice rink on the first day (200 entries, mostly children). And for this, I must thank the Manifestazioni Rivane committee for their support. Without them, we couldn’t have managed it.
