Arco Infrastructure Expansion: Road Widening and Industrial Development

They will cost approximately one and a half billion and will transform via Sabbioni, the road from Linfano leading to S. Giorgio, passing through the Cretaccio countryside, into an important transportation link. The work to repair and widen the damaged carriageway will begin within a few months and will last about a year.

In the latest city council session, the Arco executive approved the tender announcement, which will remain open until Friday morning. The intervention approved by the municipal administration involves the construction of several urbanization works in the industrial area located at the foot of Monte Brione, where, recently, several companies and businesses from Busa have settled. A strategic zone intended for further development in terms of occupied businesses in the short term.

Interventions in the Cretaccio Industrial Area

An area that was established at the outskirts of the Linfano industrial fabric, practically in open countryside, and therefore poorly served by the necessary infrastructure. Hence the decision to repair and, above all, expand via Sabbioni, to provide various companies with adequate access for their operational needs.

Along with the widening of the roadbed, the project also includes the installation of the sewer network (the existing one is insufficient) and the technological network (lighting, telephone, and fiber optics). The majority of the expenses will be borne by the companies involved in the operation themselves.

“With the frontagers of the Cretaccio artisan area — explains engineer Campostrini, head of the technical office of the municipality of Arco — the council has signed a specific agreement, whereby the companies commit to pay a concession fee almost double the normal (25 thousand per square meter instead of 11 thousand). This should cover almost the entire cost of the operation, leaving only a minimal part to be covered by the administration.”

The intervention will also have the effect of creating a significantly important connection for the Arco and Alto Garda road network. Via Sabbioni, in fact, is destined, in this way, to become a major flow route on which, very likely, most of the traffic from Linfano heading towards S. Giorgio and via S. Caterina, the strategic route, will converge.

Moreover, there are plans by the Province to build a bridge over the Sarca River at Cretaccio, directly linked to via Sabbioni, which would essentially transform into a new Grande Circonvallazione (Great Ring Road).
