Arilica Builds New Bocce Hall to Boost Community Sports Facilities

The new bocce hall in Arilica will be built within the sports facility area of San Benedetto: four regulation-sized courts equipped with a spectator stand, an independent room capable of seating nearly a hundred spectators, all complemented by a series of services aimed at making the facility an effective community hub.

Funding and Location

“The starting bid for the contract award is approximately one and a half million euros, and if all goes well, we should be able to launch the tender already by next month,” explains Mayor Umberto Chincarini. “As previously announced, the funds come from the use of part of the proceeds from the sale of land in Pioppi.”

The decision to have regulation-sized courts is motivated by the hope of being able to host significant competitions as well.

Structure and Environmental Aspects

“The bocce hall will be built next to the tennis courts and the multipurpose court; it is in a protected area with environmental restrictions, so great care will be taken in selecting materials,”

“Another very important aspect, emphasizes Chincarini, is the management of the facility: Deputy Mayor Carlo Nosè along with the delegated sports counselor Alfonso Patrimonio are evaluating a series of possibilities to ensure proper oversight of such an important center.”

This issue is considered one of the most delicate, and the Administration does not want to risk undermining such a significant commitment through inadequate management.

Agreements and Collaboration

The current hypotheses focus on drafting an agreement that could be signed with some of the interested sports associations: the Bocciofila Peschiera, but also the Tennis Club arilicense, which already manages courts in the same area, and the possibility of involving cooperatives has not been excluded.

“We hope that the social impact of this initiative will also be understood,” reiterates the mayor. “This is an important investment: the hall to be built will have the largest capacity within our municipality, and, as designed, it aims to become an authentic community gathering place for the San Benedetto neighborhood.”

Local Initiatives and Collaborations

In this area, a ecological island has recently been inaugurated, and soon, before the bocce hall is operational, a playground built next to the elementary school will also be inaugurated.

“An important commitment that the Administration has deemed capable of supporting over the years, also through collaboration with residents and various existing organizations: alongside others, we should mention Anspi, which manages the football field near the church,”

“We have always found them to be highly serious and available, and this gives us hope,” concludes Chincarini, “for the future of the bocce hall.”
