Castiglione delle Stiviere: 51-Year-Old Arrested for Allegedly Setting Ex-Wife’s Car on Fire. The incident reached a dramatic conclusion on August 15th, when a 51-year-old man, residing in Solferino, was arrested on charges of arson and stalking. Family issues between the man and his ex-partner, a 32-year-old woman, had escalated in the preceding months, leading her to report repeated threats from her ex-husband. Their separation had forced them to live in separate residences, but tensions peaked on the night of August 5th to 6th, when the woman reported the suspicious presence of her ex in the courtyard of her apartment building to emergency services.
Upon the arrival of the Carabinieri from the Operational and Mobile Unit, officers found the woman’s car engulfed in flames; thanks to the prompt intervention of the Fire Brigade, the fire was contained and did not spread further. Investigations revealed that the ex-husband had been seen starting the fire and had sustained burns to his hands that required hospital treatment. The evidence gathered prompted the Public Prosecutor’s Office in Mantova to request a precautionary measure against the man, who is currently detained at the Mantova Correctional Facility awaiting judicial proceedings.
