ASST Garda has recently implemented an innovative system for the digital traceability of biological samples, becoming the first healthcare organization in Lombardy to utilize RFID technology to track each sample from the moment of collection until it arrives in the laboratory. This new approach, active in the main hospital facilities of ASST Garda, including Desenzano, Manerbio, and Gavardo, as well as two external collection points in Pontevico and Gargnano, aims to ensure real-time monitoring of the pre-analytical process. This allows for constant oversight of the timing, methods, and conditions under which samples are transported. The platform was presented yesterday to Dr. Sabrina Buoro, Director of the Regional Coordination Center for Laboratory Medicine (DG Welfare), during her visit to the facilities to learn more about the project. ASST Garda will also have the opportunity to showcase this initiative at the national congress of the Italian Society of Clinical Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, which will be held in Riva del Garda from October 6 to 8, 2025. The primary goal is to reduce the risk of errors and optimize processes to provide patients with an increasingly efficient and reliable service. Italian Version
