In the early afternoon today, Thursday, May 22, a violent storm hit the western shore of Lake Garda, causing significant disruptions to traffic along the Gardesana Occidentale. In the stretch between the municipalities of Toscolano Maderno and Gargnano, a tree was uprooted by the strong winds and rain, crashing against the road’s retaining wall. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported, and the incident did not cause landslides, but it raised concerns due to the area’s hydrogeological fragility.
Immediately following the incident, teams from the technical office of the Municipality of Toscolano and the Fire Brigade intervened to remove the debris and secure a second unstable tree located further up the slope. To ensure the safety of motorists during the operations, a one-way alternating traffic system was implemented, leading to queues and delays in the area.
