A new project dedicated to sustainable tourism was recently unveiled at the Palace Hotel San Pietro in Bardolino, where Federalberghi Garda Veneto and Garda Green launched an innovative app to monitor the environmental impact of hotels. The app, part of the “Punto Zero” program, will enable accommodation facilities to measure crucial parameters such as CO2 emissions and energy consumption, thereby contributing to a more responsible and conscious tourism management. During the event, Bardolino’s mayor, Daniele Bertasi, emphasized the importance of sustainability for the future of the area.
The project aims to collect data on the environmental impact of tourism businesses by the end of 2025, with the goal of planning effective interventions to reduce this impact. According to Davide Fumaneri, director of Garda Green Club, using the app requires just eight minutes a day from the accommodation facilities. This tool will not only help hotels gain a better understanding of their ecological footprint but also allow them to adopt compensatory strategies such as investments in reforestation. With initiatives like this, the aim is to maintain Lake Garda as a competitive and environmentally-friendly tourist destination.
