Basso Sarca Transport Plan Proposes Frequent Summer Bus Connections
In summer, a bus line that runs every 15 minutes connects Arco, Riva, and Torbole; quick links between the hamlets of Busa and the two main centers, especially during busy events such as the periodic markets. These are two of the proposals included in the public transportation plan for Basso Sarca that the involved municipalities presented for approval to the provincial councilor Grisenti.
For now, there is silence from Trento. After the holidays, the assessor Fabrizio Miori will go to the Province to verify if there will be concrete responses to the letter he sent a month ago, also on behalf of the municipalities of Riva, Torbole, and Dro.
Goals and strategies of the mobility plan
“The law of territorial pacts allows us to operate across homogeneous zones like Busa, finally disregarding municipal borders,” clarified the administator of Arcòse. “This is a territory where traffic is usually chaotic and, at certain times, paralyzed.”
“It seemed necessary to prioritize efficient public transportation. Following the principle ‘leave the car at home and take the bus,’ I prepared a draft project with my colleagues from Riva, Torbole, and Dro, which should turn this slogan into reality.”
The goal will be achieved through efficient and rapid connections. In this context, a ‘metropolitan’ line has been proposed that, every quarter of an hour, will enable departures or arrivals at Arco, Riva, and Torbole during the summer.
An efficient service is also essential for smaller centers and the upcoming hospital complex, although frequency of runs will need to be verified.
In the hamlets, transportation must reach the inner part of the historic center; otherwise, if people are made to walk, buses will remain deserted, as is happening now.
“We have clear ideas and are waiting for them to be adopted by assessor Grisenti.” The crux of the issue lies in who will manage the system: the Atesina, as today, or creating a joint venture between line services and private operators, such as taxis?
