Benacus School Theater Revives De Filippo’s “Non ti Pago” in Bardolino
Details of the theatrical performance
Following the success of the two previous productions at the Castelnuovo theater, the theater company of the Benacus school will reprise the comedy by Eduardo de Filippo “Non ti pago” on Thursday at 9 pm at the Corallo Theater in Bardolino.
The evening is organized by the Lions Club San Vigilio; on this occasion, a scholarship will be established to be awarded to a student of the scientific high school, the Igea accounting course, or the newly established middle school who will meritably attend the 2002-2003 school year.
History and formation of the theater company
The company was founded two years ago and includes boys and girls from all classes of the institute; it made its debut last year with the play “Che dice il tuo oroscopo” by Franco Roberto, and this year, they have taken on Eduardo de Filippo.
“Non ti pago” depicts a paradoxical situation, in which the lotto winner, Bertolini, cannot claim his winnings because don Ferdinando, the protagonist of the play and owner of the house where the events unfold, claims that the numbers played are his — in fact, they were given to the winner in a dream by don Ferdinando’s deceased father — and he morally considers himself the rightful owner of the winning ticket.
Plot and direction
A series of twists and turns follow: from the evil eye to attempted murder. The play is directed by Rino Condercuri, who also translated the script from the Neapolitan dialect; main cast members include Pietro Terrini as Ferdinando Quagliuolo, and Clementina Dal Cin, who perfectly embodies her role as his wife.
An important presence is that of Professor Paola Giuliari, assistant director.
