Benacus Through Giorgio Attilio Mutti’s Lens: Exhibition Opens at Lonato’s Rocca

A photo exhibition titled **“Benàcus: il Garda e le sue colline negli scatti fotografici di Giorgio Attilio Mutti”** will be hosted at the **Rocca di Lonato del Garda** in the **Sala del Capitano** from **18 September 2026 to 6 January 2027**. The show features **50 photographs** by Giorgio Attilio Mutti, who died in 2026, collected over **40 years** of research into the landscape and wildlife of Lake Garda. The opening is scheduled for **Friday 11 September at 11:00**.

The exhibition presents Garda’s environment through the seasons, highlighting woodland anemones and capinere in spring, Monte Sasso cliffs and swifts in summer, buzzards and mulberries around Pilandro in autumn, and hellebores and great tits in winter. The project is based on the photo collection published in the 2025 volume **“Benàcus mater temporis. Il lago e le colline moreniche”** and is supported by Mutti’s family, with **Costanza Lunardi** serving as curator.

Guided visits and talks will be held during the exhibition period with **Mauro Bailo, Simona Guioli, Costanza Lunardi, Giorgio Perazza and Nicola Rocchi**. The initiative is promoted with the involvement of **Rocca di Lonato – Fondazione Ugo Da Como**, **Regione Lombardia**, **Brescia Province**, **Lonato del Garda Municipality**, and several local partners. Admission costs **€6**, including entry to the Rocca complex; the exhibition is open daily **10:00–17:00** until **31 October**, then **weekends only** (Saturday and Sunday) **10:00–17:00** from **1 November**.
