Beware of Carabinieri Impersonators: How to Detect and React to Scams

Avoid being fooled by Carabinieri impersonators when contacted by hotel owners, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Medio and Alto Garda regions, who may offer magazine subscriptions on behalf of the arm.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance authorities, the police, fire brigade, or municipal officers.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri – simply dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after collecting money, disappear.
