Brescia ranks among the top ten Italian provinces for tourist spending by foreign visitors, occupying the ninth position in a context that shows significant growth compared to 2022. In 2024, tourists mainly from Germany, the Netherlands, and Great Britain contributed to a total of 181 million euros, accounting for 38% of Brescia’s tourism expenditure. These figures highlight the importance of international tourism for the local economy, with an overall increase in traveler spending across Italy surpassing 20.9 billion euros, marking a 37.9% rise.
Barbara Quaresmini, president of Confesercenti of Eastern Lombardy, emphasizes that tourism is a cornerstone of Brescia’s economy alongside the metallurgical and manufacturing sectors. Digital payments made by foreign tourists are crucial for the economic well-being of the province, and the hospitality sector plays a vital role in generating added value. With nearly 50% of expenditures allocated to restaurants and accommodation facilities, Brescia continues to be an attractive destination for emerging geographical areas in the global tourism landscape.
