Brescia and Lake Garda: sustainable public transport project
The project for the Garda Metro was presented in Brescia, a sustainable public transportation system that will connect the capital with Villanuova sul Clisi. The pre-feasibility study, conducted by the University of Brescia, outlines a route of approximately 22 km with eleven stations that will traverse nine municipalities. The meeting took place at Palazzo Broletto and was attended by mayors and local administrators, coordinated by the President of the Province, Emanuele Moraschini. Vice President Fabio Rolfi emphasized the importance of the initiative in addressing traffic issues and improving accessibility.
The investment required to implement the project amounts to 722 million euros, with an expectation of over ten million passengers in the first year. It is estimated that around five million will come from current users of extra-urban bus services, while four million will be from private motorists, thereby highlighting the potential of the new service to reduce environmental impact and promote more sustainable mobility in the region.
