Brescia and sustainable tourism: opportunities for Lake Garda
In recent months, tourism in Brescia has experienced a significant increase in visitor numbers, with a 14% rise compared to the periods prior to the pandemic. This positive trend is particularly evident in the international segment, which accounts for 72% of the total, positioning the province among the most international destinations in Italy. According to Barbara Quaresmini, president of Confesercenti Lombardia Orientale, the variety and quality of the tourist offerings, ranging from the Lake Garda to the cultural heritage of the capital, have contributed to this success. Andrea Maggioni, coordinator of Confesercenti Lake Garda, emphasizes how the polycentric model of Brescia’s tourism distributes flows across a wide territorial area. However, Confesercenti Brescia stresses the importance of careful planning to maintain a balance between residential and hospitality needs. The recent signing of the Pact for the creation of a tourism governance system represents a significant step towards a shared strategy to support sustainable tourism in the province. The report from the Touring Club confirms that Brescia is establishing itself as one of the most dynamic provinces in Italy, capable of combining innovation and sustainability. The future prospects are promising: investments in training for operators and integrated promotion of the territory could further strengthen the province’s position in the national and international tourism landscape.
