Brescia and the Resistance: the value of historical photographs
On Friday, January 19, from 3 PM to 6 PM, an important conference titled **“Photographs, Videos, Memories, and Documents as Historical Sources”** will take place in Salò. This event will focus on analyzing the value of images and testimonies within the context of historical research. It will be held in the Sala dei Provveditori of the Town Hall and is open to the public free of charge. Among the speakers are notable experts such as Debora Piroli, director of the State Archive of **Brescia**, and Gabriele D’Autilia from the University of Teramo, who will discuss the importance of documentary sources in shaping collective identity and historical memory.
During the conference, the catalog of the photographic exhibition **“The Last Winter 1943-1945: From Resistance to Liberation”** will also be presented. This exhibition is currently on display at MuSa until January 6. It features a selection of over one hundred period photographs, prints, and documents that depict crucial moments of the partisan **Resistance** in the Garda area and the Brescia valleys, thus contributing to the preservation of historical memory from a significant period for the local community.
