Brescia Chamber Sets 1999 Grape Prices for Local Harvest
The Special Commission held a recent meeting, promoted by the Camera di Commercio di Brescia, to define indicative chamber prices to be used as a reference for the upcoming and nearly imminent 1999 harvest across the Brescia area.
This commission was quite diverse, representing practically all institutions, consortia, and trade associations involved in the viticulture sector.
Indicative prices and negotiations
Indicative prices per quintal, it was discussed, will serve as a reference for producers and traders for the upcoming grape exchanges, which will also allow a certain margin of negotiation depending on quality and Babo grade.
Insurance companies will also base their negotiations on these prices, establishing the compensation coefficient for areas affected by possible hailstorms.
Essentially, this confirms the final prices set during the previous harvest (’98).
Grape prices by type and areas
55,000/75,000 lire, same as last year, is the price for white and red grapes intended for table wines, i.e., grapes from registered vineyards that do not meet the required Babo grade for respective regulations.
70,000/90,000 lire (same as ’98) are the prices for table wine grapes from I.G.T. zones (Indication Geografica Tipica): Benaco Bresciano, Montenetto di Brescia, Ronchi di Brescia, and Sebino.
