Brescia Opens Lake Trout Fishing and Restocking Program

An important update for sport fishermen in Brescia: the catching of the lake trout was opened on Monday.

Valuable and prized, coregone is highly sought after by private individuals and especially by restaurateurs, who have learned to appreciate it through their craft.

Before the start of fishing, eight sampling events were carried out, under the supervision of the guards of the Provincia di Brescia, to recover eggs now incubating at the ichthyogenic facility in Peschiera, managed jointly by the provinces of Brescia and Verona.

The incubation of the eggs will last approximately forty days; afterward, the fry will be released into the waters of Lake Garda (Benaco), as is customary every year.

The restocking activity ensures the species’ continuity and simultaneously protects an increasing economic interest.
