Starting from Monday, April 7, **Brescia** welcomed five new **electric buses** as part of an initiative aimed at enhancing **sustainable public transport** in the city. The vehicles, supplied by Arriva Italia, are intended for both urban and suburban fleets and are accompanied by the installation of a new refueling station for methane vehicles, managed by Greenture S.p.A., a subsidiary of Snam. During the presentation held at Arriva Italia’s headquarters, the regional councilor for Transport and Sustainable Mobility, Franco Lucente, emphasized the importance of renewing the fleet to ensure a more ecological and interconnected mobility.
Lucente also announced that by 2026, approximately 1,070 new buses will be introduced in Lombardy, resulting in a significant reduction in CO2 emissions thanks to the inclusion of new electric vehicles. To support this transition towards a more efficient and sustainable local public transport system, the Lombardy Region has planned significant investments in the national strategic plan for sustainable mobility. Specifically, the Brescia agency has outlined plans to purchase additional electric buses and methane vehicles to meet the needs of the area.
