Brescia Tourism Leaders Discuss New Territorial Agency for Garda

PADENGHE SUL GARDA

Theme and Participants of the Meeting

“Territorial Agencies for Tourism” was the theme that attracted virtually all the main tourism operators and representatives of the various consortia active on the Brescia side of Lake Garda to the Locanda Santa Giulia in Padenghe. The purpose of this “exploratory” meeting was “to open a discussion table in order to explore the possible real and concrete opportunities,” initiated by Tourism Councillor of the Province of Brescia Ermes Buffoli.

Objectives and Outcomes of the Meeting

“It was a fruitful meeting, with the satisfaction of having seated around the table all tourism operators and wine producers from across Garda, from Limone to Pozzolengo and Sirmione, who expressed a willingness to proceed along a common path — that of enhancing Garda’s territory. An initial stage through a joint project, which we will develop together with local administrations, aimed at creating a Territorial Agency where the public and private sectors finally work together to promote tourism campaigns that Garda needs today. This,” — highlighted at the end of the meeting by Assessore Buffoli — “is part of a project by the Province of Brescia, which naturally also includes other areas to be valued, such as Franciacorta and Sebino, together with Valcamonica, Valtrompia, Lake Idro, and indeed Garda.”

Questions and Clarifications About the New Office

But, we asked, will this be a new office replacing the APT of Brescia? “No! We are not at all moving toward a new APT system,” — replied Buffoli —. The APT of Brescia is currently undergoing a period of difficulties, both due to regulatory changes that increasingly favor decentralization toward homogeneous areas.

Instead, we are increasingly focusing on the needs of the territory. The requests are precisely to enhance the territory by areas, highlighting what makes each region unique, giving it a specific branding, and consequently, the Province is moving in this direction, which is the future for tourism in our province, so vast and varied, and thus in great need of specific valorizzation, emphasizing its particularities.”
