Brescia Truffle Market & Research Event at Puegnago
The ninth edition of the Mostra Mercato del Tartufo Bresciano opens this morning at 9 a.m. in the former Tebaldini Palace in Puegnago. On display and for sale, alongside the “tuber” mushrooms from our province, will be extra-virgin olive oil, typical wines, honey, grappas, cheeses, chestnuts, all strictly made in Brescia.
The highlight of the day will come in the evening with the “Gran Galà dello Sportivo“, an event now in its second edition organized by the municipalities of Valtenesi, Desenzano, and Salò in collaboration with the provincial Department of Sports.
Evening dedicated to athletes and tastings
At 8 p.m., in the town council hall, about fifty athletes from various disciplines will parade, who in recent times have upheld Brescia’s colors at both regional and national levels.
The evening, which will include the participation of the provincial Sports Councilor Alessandro Sala, will conclude with tastings of truffle, Groppello wine, and other Garda specialties.
Next day program and related initiatives
Tomorrow begins at 9:30 a.m., and in the morning, after the celebration of the Day of Thanks with tractor blessings, the Mostra Mercato will be officially inaugurated by Gianfranco Comincioli and other authorities present.
At noon, a tasting-aperitif of the exhibited products, and in the afternoon, a skills test to find truffles with trained dogs.
Conference on truffle cultivation and evening finals
On the subject of Brescia’s truffle farming and its future prospects—particularly related to the start of Tuber Magnatum production and the collection of the first mycorrhized specimens of Nero Liscio—a conference will be held at 5 p.m. in the town council hall, organized by the Associazione Tartufai Bresciani. Virgilio Vezzola will also participate.
The grand finale will feature, at 6:30 p.m., a performance by the Piasaroi de Poegnac, along with an evening tasting of traditional dishes.
Closing and subsequent events
The fair is scheduled to close in the evening at 9:30 p.m.; however, discussions about truffles and the economic potential of truffle cultivation will resume next Thursday, November 29, in a debate organized by the cooperative Cantine della Valtenesi and Lugana at the Garda e Vino wine shop in Moniga.
Representatives of the Associazione Tartufai Bresciani will also participate, and the evening will conclude with an educational dinner on Brescia’s truffles, for which reservations are available.
