Burnout in Plastic Surgeons: Analysis of the Villa Bella Clinic Salò Study
A recent study conducted by Villa Bella Clinic in Salò has revealed that burnout among plastic surgeons is a significant issue, with over 64% of the professionals surveyed experiencing at least one episode of physical and emotional exhaustion. The investigation, led by Dr. Mariachiara Fabbri and based on a sample of 430 doctors, identified excessive workload (51.7%), managing highly demanding patients (41.6%), and difficulties in balancing personal and professional life (33.8%) as the main causes of burnout. Chiara Botti, the medical director of the clinic and a lecturer in Plastic Surgery, emphasized the importance of this study for understanding gender dynamics in the field, as more and more women are pursuing this career. She highlighted the need to address the critical issues raised by the collected data to ensure a fair professional path and improve communication with patients regarding their expectations for aesthetic surgery outcomes.
