Carabinieri Impersonators Target Garda Businesses in Phone Scams

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to magazines of the forces.

These are not military personnel but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, police, fire brigade, or municipal guards.

Recognizing scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect that you have been targeted by individuals who,

if they have money, cease all contact and disappear.
