Carabinieri Impersonators Target Garda Hospitality in Phone Scam

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in Middle and Upper Garda, offering subscriptions to arms magazines.

These are not military personnel, but con artists who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, fire brigade, or the Municipality police.

How to Recognize Scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, beware and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

if they had money, would no longer make themselves visible.
