Carabinieri impostors target Garda residents with fake subscription scams

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to the arma magazines.

These are not military personnel, but con artists who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, police, fire brigade, or the Comune wardens.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

if they had money, would no longer be seen.
