Caprino Veronese: Immediate Trial Requested for Carabinieri Marshal Accused of Drug Trafficking
. Prosecutor Stefano Aresu has requested an immediate trial for Tullio Borini, a Carabinieri marshal serving in Caprino Veronese, and Faical El Farssani, a 40-year-old of Moroccan descent. Both are accused of drug trafficking after being caught in March with approximately two kilograms of cocaine. The investigation stemmed from a drug operation conducted by the Carabinieri of Verona Principale, who observed an exchange between the two men involving a bag containing the drugs.
According to the findings of the investigation, the cocaine had previously been seized and stored in the safe at the Caprino barracks awaiting destruction. Borini, the only person with access to the safe’s key, allegedly replaced the substance with gypsum; bags from analysis laboratories and a vacuum sealer used in the exchange process were found in his home. The Prosecutor’s Office believes the evidence is so clear that a preliminary hearing is unnecessary: if no alternative proceedings are requested, the trial will take place in October before Judge Pasquale Laganà. Currently, the marshal is in Trento prison after refusing to be transferred to the military prison in Santa Maria Capua Vetere.
