Carabinieri Scam Alert Targeting Garda Business Owners and Artisans

The perpetrators pose as Carabinieri when calling hotel owners, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering magazine subscriptions from the force.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance authorities, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have no connection with the law enforcement.

So, be cautious and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect that you have been targeted by individuals who,

if they had any money, would no longer be seen.
