Carabinieri Scam Warnings in Garda Region: How to Recognize Fraud

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda region, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

These are not military personnel, but fraudsters who, variously, claim to belong to the finance police, police, fire brigade, or municipal police forces.

Recognizing scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately alert the Carabinieri—just dial 112— as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,
