Cardiac Imaging Course in Riva Highlights Advances in Non-Invasive Diagnosis

Yesterday morning, a training course opened in the Palacongressi halls in Riva, for cardiac surgeons, cardiologists, vascular surgeons, and radiologists. An important event focused on exploring and testing modern uses of CT and Magnetic Resonance Imaging in the diagnosis of cardiovascular diseases.

Instructors and course content

The course, which will conclude today, features two renowned radiologists from Mayo-Clinic in Rochester (USA), namely Professor Stanson and Dr. Breen. These distinguished scientists were among the first in the world to utilize CT and Magnetic Resonance Imaging for non-invasive diagnosis (without the use of any instruments introduced into the human body) of cardiovascular diseases.

They contributed to spreading the methods they developed themselves across the United States. The increasing availability of CT and Magnetic Resonance Imaging equipment in Italy and Europe now makes it possible to use some of these tools for this type of activity, reducing the high risks that previously available methods posed to patients.

In fact, these techniques previously required the use of intravascular catheters. Soon, such machines will also be available in Trentino.
