Castiglione Approves Nursing Home Construction and Renovation Projects
The city council has unanimously approved the initiative for the construction of a private nursing home in the San Pietro area. Likewise, in the same meeting, which concluded late into the night, it also voted in favor of the proposal by the administration to partially fund the renovation of the Zanetti Cominelli nursing home or to support its potential decision to build a new facility.
These steps, which likely went unnoticed by most citizens present at the city council meeting held Monday evening (the discussion on this point took place when it was three in the morning), are critical for the future of healthcare and assisted living facilities for the elderly in Castiglione.
As may be remembered, the municipal administration, a few weeks ago, analyzed the feasibility study it had commissioned from a specialized company that designs projects for nursing homes and senior care facilities in general.
This study aimed to identify the most suitable site for building a new nursing home and to estimate the costs for bringing the existing Zanetti Cominelli facilities up to standard.
Study Results and Approved Proposals
The findings indicated that the best site would be the San Pietro area, followed by the former Bersaglio and the former Lido Swimming Pool.
Furthermore, the municipal administration approved the initiative from Mantuan companies expressing their interest in constructing a private nursing home, with 120 beds, in San Pietro.
These two measures, approved by the administration, were summarized and presented to the city council.
The administration presented these proposals to the city council, which gave its approval for the operation.
Government Commitment and Future Decisions
Regarding the private nursing home, the municipal government and the council are prepared to approve all necessary measures for changing the area’s zoning and to authorize its construction.
For the renovation of Zanetti Cominelli or for the construction of a new structure by Zanetti Cominelli, the administration has committed to contributing towards the renovation costs and to purchasing the land for the new building.
All these measures received favorable votes from the city council.
Yesterday, Mayor Arturo Sigurtà emphasized the importance of this vote and the significant role that the administration will play moving forward.
