CentoMiglia del Garda 2026: ORC Classic division unveiled

The CentoMiglia del Garda 2026, scheduled for September 5-6 on Lake Garda, will introduce a new ORC Classic division for boats whose first launch in the series dates back to before 1990, set up by the Circolo Vela Gargnano.

The change was formalised through Notice to Competitors No. 01 dated August 10, which updates point 4.1 of the Sailing Instructions. Eligible boats must meet the requirements already set out in the notice and belong to series launched before 1990, including vessels tied to the IOR “historical season”. Raffaele Valsecchi, FIv XIV Zona’s delegate for offshore racing, said the classification is based on a specific technical criterion and that many of these boats are still active on the racing circuit.

The division will exclude one-design classes recognised by the Italian Sailing Federation or World Sailing, as well as boats equipped with terraces, trapezes, foils, or ballast. ORC Classic will run alongside the modern fleet, and participating boats can also compete for the Trofeo Bettoni and thus for the CentoMiglia overall, as detailed in the official Notice to Competitors.
