A significant leadership change in the Coast Guard has recently occurred, with Commander Antonello Ragadale handing over command of the First Coast Guard Unit of the Lake Garda to Captain Massimiliano Quinto. The handover ceremony took place in Salò, attended by military personnel and local authorities. Ragadale, after five years of dedicated service to navigational safety, played a crucial role in ensuring the safety of swimmers and boaters, actively contributing to rescue operations in adverse weather conditions.
The new commander, Quinto, takes on an important role as the Coast Guard continues to operate with 45 personnel and a fleet of 10 vessels, maintaining a unit ready to intervene 24 hours a day. With the establishment of the Operational Lakes Department in Milan, to which the Garda unit will report, the commitment of the Port Authorities to managing navigational safety on Italy’s lakes is further strengthened. Local authorities have expressed their gratitude for Ragadale’s work and wished success to his successor in overseeing safety on Italy’s largest lake.
