A significant leadership change in the Coast Guard of Lake Garda recently took place in Salò, where Commander Frigate Captain (CP) Antonello Ragadale handed over command to Commander Corvette Captain (CP) Massimiliano Quinto after five years of service. The ceremony was attended by active military personnel and included courtesy visits to the Prefects of the provinces of Brescia and Verona, as well as to the Mayor of Salò and the Garda Community. During his tenure, Ragadale led crucial operations to ensure navigational safety, assisting hundreds of swimmers and athletes, thereby strengthening the presence of the Coast Guard in the lake basin.
Antonello Ragadale will now take command of the newly established Operational Department of Lakes for the Coast Guard in Milan, which will oversee the Coast Guard units for Lakes Garda, Como, and Maggiore. This change marks another step towards optimizing navigational safety, with a structure comprising 45 military personnel and 10 naval vessels ready to respond at any time of the year. Local representatives expressed their gratitude for Ragadale’s commitment and wished Quinto success in his new role, highlighting the importance of the Coast Guard for the safety of users of Italy’s largest lake.
