A call for the recovery of chestnut groves has been published, aimed at private citizens and agricultural businesses that own, rent, or hold rights to chestnut groves in the municipalities of the BIM Sarca Mincio Garda Consortium, including Riva, Arco, Ledro, Dro, and Drena. This initiative aims to support interventions for care, pruning, cleaning of the underbrush, removal of invasive species, and planting of new local plants. The project seeks to promote a sustainable management of chestnut groves, which are considered key elements of the local rural landscape and essential for the protection of biodiversity.
The chestnut groves involved must contain fruit-bearing trees that require recovery and maintenance. The call not only encourages the improvement of these crops but also contributes to the safeguarding of the landscape in alignment with the environmental conservation objectives set by the Sarca River Park. These agricultural areas are recognized for their high natural quality and the presence of numerous rare species linked to these habitats, making chestnut groves a defining feature of the territory. Documentation related to the call is available on the consortium’s official website.
