Citrus Paper in Toscolano: Innovation in the Circular Economy

The Citrus Paper represents an innovative initiative in circular economy launched by the Terre & Sapori Cooperative and Toscolano Paper, in the heart of Toscolano. This project transforms the byproducts of citrus processing into eco-friendly paper, connecting two historical traditions of the area: citrus cultivation, dating back to the 15th century, and paper production, documented since 1381. The cooperative has already begun using citrus waste to create a unique paper, made entirely from citrus plant fibers, as a substitute for the more common cotton or linen fibers. The project was recently launched in the presence of Mayor Chiara Chimini and Councillor Fabiana Bonomini. This new creation not only enhances the local cultural heritage but also aims to be a niche product for those seeking excellence, as evidenced by the choice of Michelin-starred chef Denis Luchi for his restaurant in Singapore. With this innovative approach, citrus waste becomes a valuable raw material, helping to breathe new life into the ancient arts of the Alto Garda region. Italian Version
