In Lombardy, 1,370 young people are preparing to embark on their Civil Service journey, an initiative that offers training and volunteering opportunities for young individuals. The Councillor for Family, Social Solidarity, Disability, and Equal Opportunities, Elena Lucchini, welcomed the participants, emphasizing the importance of their commitment as an example of active citizenship. During the ceremony, she highlighted how Civil Service will not only enrich local communities but also enhance the personal development of the volunteers, providing valuable skills for their future careers.
The 2024 ordinary call for applications offers a total of 4,350 positions available in Lombardy, marking a significant increase compared to previous years. The average age of candidates is 23, with a predominance of females (68%) and a high level of education: 65% hold a high school diploma, and over 22% have a university degree. The projects range from assisting vulnerable individuals to environmental education, providing young people with the opportunity to develop practical and professional skills within the context of youth volunteering.
