The financial police of the Provincial Command of Verona have seized 400 tons of pellets in an operation against commercial fraud. The intervention, carried out by the Legnago Company, revealed that the bags of pellets bore misleading indications regarding their calorific value, which was significantly higher than the actual value, and that they originated from non-EU countries and uncertified companies. This resulted in violations of product safety regulations and consumer protection laws.
During the operation, 16,889 bags of pellets marked with counterfeit labels were seized, along with 9,578 bags lacking the necessary information in Italian. The legal representative of the involved company has been reported for fraud in commercial practices and for selling industrial products with false markings. The investigations confirmed the improper use of the ENplus certification, essential for ensuring high-quality standards in the pellet supply chain, highlighting the commitment of the Guardia di Finanza to combat the spread of products that do not comply with safety standards.
