Con Artists Impersonate Police to Scam Garda Hoteliers and Shops

They impersonate Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda area, proposing subscriptions to the arms magazines.

These are not military personnel but con artists who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire department, or the Municipal police.

Recognizing the scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be alert and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

if they had money, would no longer show themselves.
