Criminals Impersonating Police Target Garda Hoteliers and Businesses

They impersonate carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the middle and upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to Army magazines.

These are not military personnel, but criminals who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, firefighters, or urban police.

Beware of scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or magazines unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately contact the carabinieri – simply dial 112 – as soon as you suspect being targeted by individuals who, once they have received the money, disappear.
