Desenzano and rental fund: increased resources for families in difficulty

Desenzano expands its rental assistance fund, allocating one thousand euros to 344 families in financial difficulty. The municipality had to increase the initial budget of 62,000 euros, as 282 more requests were received than anticipated. This measure, which offers a one-time contribution of one thousand euros for each eligible family, has seen the Administration respond to an evident and growing need. With the latest update to the fund, an additional 282,000 euros have been allocated to ensure support for all families that applied. The issue had been raised by the center-left minority in previous months and led to the reinstatement of the fund that had originally been canceled. Despite the progress made, there remains concern over the reduction of the average contribution per family at the beginning of the current term. Mayor Guido Malinverno confirmed that the municipal budget for 2024 amounts to over 70 million euros, with about 10% allocated to social services. However, there is a strong emphasis on the need to ensure adequate support for the housing sector in the near future, given the high cost of rents in the area. Italian Version
