Desenzano Council Debates PGT Amendment and Citizen Engagement

Desenzano’s City Council discussed the general variation to the Land Use Plan (PGT) on Monday, with opposition members criticizing the lack of a long-term strategic vision, citizen participation, and environmental considerations such as biodiversity and sustainable mobility. Despite acknowledging positive aspects like the containment of land consumption, opposition councilors Stefano Terzi, Beatrice Gabusi, Andrea Palmerini, Bernardo Comini, and Maria Vittoria Papa chose to abstain from the vote.

Opposition representatives emphasized that the declared “zero land consumption” is largely due to regulatory obligations rather than independent political decisions. They described the variation as minimal after over a decade of socio-economic changes, raising concerns about specific issues including the former Federal Mogul area, the role of San Martino Nature Reserve, and recommendations from ARPA and ATS. The council now enters the observation phase, which opposition members see as a key opportunity for broader citizen involvement.
