The project World4all, conceived by Marco Bottardi from Desenzano, has received a Special Mention Start Lab from UniCredit in the Impact Innovation 2025 category, recognizing its commitment to accessibility and social inclusion. This innovative system, based on AI and machine learning, maps and certifies the accessibility of public and private spaces, thereby facilitating access to services for individuals with disabilities or reduced mobility. So far, four municipalities have been involved: Desenzano, Sirmione, Padenghe, and Salò, where key points of interest such as museums and beaches have been mapped.
The project goes beyond mapping; it also provides consultancy services to enhance the accessibility of public spaces through simple and cost-effective interventions. Additionally, a training course is planned for municipal employees to break down cultural barriers related to inclusion. The data collected is available in the Word4all app, which is also useful for the elderly and parents with strollers. The future goal is to engage other municipalities in the area to extend this initiative on a Lombardy-wide scale.
