Desenzano del Garda: Gianus Explores Imposed Happiness in New Performance
This morning, the artistic duo Gianus staged a provocative performance titled “Are You Happy?” at the old port of Desenzano del Garda, in front of a traditional nativity scene. The performance featured a weary man juxtaposed with an oversized, artificial smile, symbolizing the imposed happiness prevalent in contemporary society. The artists aimed to raise awareness about the notion of happiness as a social obligation rather than a personal desire, illustrating how the image of happiness can become an empty icon.
Gianus highlighted the contradiction between their work and the “pure happiness” represented by the nativity scene, a symbol of authentic tradition that many seek to abolish. Through this artistic expression, the duo encourages reflection on the true meaning of happiness in a world where well-being is often displayed rather than genuinely experienced.
