Desenzano del Garda: the floating nativity scene and Christmas tradition
The floating nativity scene has returned to bring the Christmas tradition to life in the old port of Desenzano del Garda, officially inaugurating the holiday season on December 8th. Despite facing challenges such as the theft of timber and the absence of the two historical guardians of the tradition, the volunteers of the Pro Loco have worked tirelessly to restore this historic attraction, which will be on display until January 11, 2026. Alongside the nativity scene, the “Singing of the Star” will also take place, an initiative involving groups of wandering singers who will bring Christmas music and carols to the neighborhoods of Desenzano, symbolizing the journey of the Magi. The Pro Loco continues to collaborate with various local associations to enhance the Christmas atmosphere and bring joy to the elderly and the sick through festive decorations in nursing homes.
