Desenzano Hospital Ranks Top for Shortest Waiting Times in Lombardy
Third place in Lombardy and among the top ten in Italy. This is the position held by the Azienda ospedaliera di Desenzano in the special ranking compiled by «Sole 24 Ore» among 96 Italian healthcare structures for waiting times in outpatient clinics and diagnostic laboratories. Analyzing the Lombard results, the economic newspaper notes that the average waiting time for cardiological, gynecological, and urological visits, abdominal ultrasound, and CT scans across the 26 hospital companies was 31.4 days, with peaks up to 63 days.
In light of this data, the average figure for the Desenzano facility, which encompasses the hospitals of Manerbio, Lonato, Leno, Gavardo, and Salo, is remarkably better: 11.2 days, almost one-third of the regional average. The results of the «Sole 24 Ore» investigation appeared a few days ago and even surprised the company’s leadership.
Some journalists, posing as private citizens, have requested appointments for five different services across all Italian hospitals, nearly one hundred in total. Sometimes, the delays caused by waiting lists, as highlighted by the financial daily’s dossier, can also indicate that the center is overwhelmed with bookings because it is considered satisfactory and capable of providing high-quality services.
Often, the Centralized Booking Office, the Cup, of the Desenzano company, goes into overload especially for this reason. «We take these excellent results very positively, as they confirm data from our monthly checks across the entire range of services provided,» emphasized the Director General Angelo Foschini. «To reduce waiting times, the company has invested many resources, but has also found perfect cooperation from its staff, which we sincerely thank.»
The Medical Director, Alfonso Castellani, adds: «Reducing waiting times has been a goal based on a prerequisite: our commitment to guarantee citizens the best, most qualified, and timely service, while also utilizing public funds as efficiently as possible.» A final note: Desenzano is currently the leading Brescia-based company in this ranking of waiting times.
