The Political Table for the Desenzano Hospital, composed of various local political forces, has officially presented a sustainable healthcare proposal for the future of the city’s hospital to the mayor. This document, which will also be sent to the Province, ASST, ATS, and the Lombardy Region, opposes the construction of a new hospital in the area known as “the pit,” highlighting concerns related to environmental impact and inadequate land space. The representatives reaffirm their opposition to this project, which has been discussed in the past, emphasizing the risk of real estate speculation on the current hospital site.
The alternative proposal suggested by the Political Table involves a redevelopment of the existing facilities, combining the restoration of current buildings with the construction of a new hospital wing in the staff parking area. This strategy is considered effective and sustainable for addressing the healthcare needs of the community without consuming additional land. The plan includes a modular approach that would allow services to remain operational during construction and would also enhance the welfare of healthcare staff with new corporate services. The Political Table requests that this proposal be carefully examined by the regional technical committee to ensure quality public healthcare in the future.
