Legambiente has expressed concern regarding the Euro 5 diesel ban planned for the regions of Padania, emphasizing the need for investments to ensure an effective transition to more sustainable transportation. In a joint statement, the regional sections of the association highlighted how the current government is attempting to circumvent a measure established in 2017, mistakenly placing the blame on the European Union. According to Legambiente, adequate tools have not been adopted to manage the impact of the ban, which is crucial for public health and to avoid penalties.
The association also criticizes the stagnation in establishing a zero-emission mobility system, pointing out that incentives for electric cars have been largely ineffective. Legambiente has drawn attention to the resources needed to improve public transportation and support artisans and small businesses in their transition to less polluting vehicles. Finally, a crucial question has been raised: with the 13.5 billion allocated for the construction of the bridge over the Strait, how many interventions could be made to ensure more efficient public transport in the Padania regions?
