Starting from November 1st, Tremosine sul Garda will implement an important reform in its door-to-door waste collection, removing bins from the streets and requiring residents to dispose of their sorted waste directly in front of their homes, following the municipal eco-calendar. The new system stipulates that residual waste will be collected on Mondays, organic waste on Tuesdays, paper on Wednesdays, while plastic and glass will be collected on alternate Thursdays. This change aims to improve the recycling rate, which currently stands between 47% and 49%, with the goal of reaching at least 65%, in line with current regulations. Mayor Battista Girardi emphasized the significance of this transition, highlighting that in other municipalities in the area that have already adopted this system, an average of 76% of waste has been recycled. Despite some challenges related to the mountainous terrain and the presence of as many as 18 hamlets, the administration is confident in the initiative’s success, thanks to the awareness demonstrated by residents during the informational meetings organized. The intent is to optimize waste tariff costs and promote a culture of environmental sustainability among the residents. Italian Version
