Sirmione: incidents and disruptions reported due to heavy downpour. On the morning of Monday, May 12, an intense storm struck the area, causing significant flooding, particularly in Colombare. Around 8 a.m., a violent cloudburst raised water levels by up to twenty centimeters, submerging sidewalks and roads and infiltrating residential garages. The situation was worsened by the inability of the drainage systems to handle the large volume of rain that fell in a short period, prompting local authorities to take swift action.
The Fire Brigade, along with the Civil Protection of Lower Garda and the State Police, intervened to manage the emergency. The severe weather also impacted local traffic: a motorist lost control of their vehicle and veered off the road without serious consequences, while a young cyclist was rescued after slipping into a ditch. The day proved challenging for residents and visitors in the area, who had to cope with the difficulties caused by the heavy rainfall.
