Dr. Andrea Zanoni presents “Ben di Stomaco” in Desenzano

The Desenzano del Garda Civic Library continues its cultural series “Words Among Us” with an event entirely dedicated to health and scientific communication. On November 20, 2025, at 8:45 PM, at the Villa Brunati, local physician and author Andrea Zanoni, who was born and raised in Desenzano, will be featured. Zanoni will present his book “Ben di stomaco. Medicine and Nutrition to Say Goodbye to Reflux, Hiatal Hernia, and Gastritis,” co-authored with molecular biologist and nutritionist Pietro Buffa. This initiative provides an opportunity to delve into common gastric disorders and discuss the importance of an integrated approach between medical therapies and proper eating habits. A Book on Common Gastric Disorders The book addresses the topic of stomach disorders in a clear and rigorous manner, focusing on a widespread issue that includes reflux, gastritis, hiatal hernia, and feelings of burning or heaviness. Current statistics indicate that at least one in five people suffers from gastric problems. In Western countries, for instance, it is estimated that the percentage of the population affected by reflux is between 10% and 20%. While most cases are mild and manageable with occasional medical therapies, a significant portion of patients requires long-term treatments, including the possibility of surgical intervention. “Ben di stomaco” aims to serve as a guide that offers concrete and lasting solutions, helping readers to better understand how their bodies function. The Importance of Doctor-Patient Communication In the book, the two professionals who deal with stomach and esophagus health daily guide the reader through an informative journey covering diagnostic tests, various therapeutic options, potential surgical interventions, and the essential role of proper nutrition. Dr. Zanoni emphasizes that the heart of the medical profession lies not only in the exchange between specialists but “also and especially in the interaction between doctor and patient.” The goal of the text is to clearly explain what these very common conditions are, often not severe but “highly debilitating.” Zanoni highlights the importance of relying on dedicated professionals, warning against the risks of “do-it-yourself” approaches or consulting “Dr. Google,” practices that can lead to serious consequences. Profile of Dr. Andrea Zanoni Born in Desenzano del Garda in 1981, Andrea Zanoni graduated in Medicine and Surgery from Verona in 2006 and completed his specialization in General Surgery in 2013. During his specialization, he attended the Department of Thoracic Surgery at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Ohio, USA, establishing an ongoing collaboration and focusing on benign esophageal and stomach conditions. Since 2014, Dr. Zanoni has been working at the Rovereto Hospital (Trentino), where he holds a specialized position as head of the outpatient clinic dedicated to esophageal and stomach diseases. He is also the author of scientific publications and teaches at the Specialization School in General Medicine in the province of Trento. His work extends to scientific communication, driven by the need to make medical knowledge more accessible and understandable for patients. Nutrition and Integrated Medicine The event in Desenzano del Garda on November 20, 2025, is an opportunity to meet the author and engage in discussions on current topics such as digestive health and the close correlation between nutrition and well-being. Co-author Pietro Buffa argues that nutrition is a fundamental component of what is known as Integrated Medicine, which aims to complement conventional medical approaches with supportive disciplines aimed at the overall well-being of the individual. Admission to the presentation at Villa Brunati is free, subject to available seating. Italian Version
